State and Regional Air Pollution Resources

The Clean Air Act gives EPA the authority to establish regulations, policy, and guidance to protect air quality. Most federal air pollution regulations are industry-specific (see EPA Air Pollution Regulations). States also have laws and regulations protecting air quality, most of which are based on federal rules. Our air pollution state locator will help you find state and regional regulatory agencies and rules covering topics such as toxic air pollutants, open burning, smoke, dust.
